What is Spectrum Gaming?

Spectrum Gaming is a community for autistic young people. It's a place where you can connect with others and develop friendships in a safe space with the support of autistic adults :)

interested in joining?

To join our community you need to be an autistic young person aged 10-17 and live in one of our 'funded areas' - You can find out more about who can join in our FAQ section!

If you would like to join our community, a parent or carer needs to read through the parent info here and then fill out an application form for you (you cannot apply by yourself).

You don't need to be really into gaming to join, as there are lots of different topics that members chat about, from art and anime to trains and baking! We have a regular online event schedule that ranges from Cooking Club and Chess to Movie Night and Among Us.

Our community is mostly online, where we run two private Discord servers and a Minecraft server that are just for members. If you are not familiar with Discord, our server is a bit like a huge private group chat with different themed text and voice 'channels' that you can chat to other members in. (There's a video here on their YouTube channel that explains the basics of what it is) In some areas we also offer regular face to face meet ups too and the types of meet-ups are decided by young people themselves. In Manchester we currently run regular forest school, youth group and football meet ups each month, and also some meet ups in Sheffield.

When you join SG you also get opportunities to contribute to our advocacy work as well, and there are different projects to get involved with - some young people even deliver webinars about autism to professionals and parents!

Our Face-to-Face Stuff:

You can see a video of one of our forest school sessions on our YouTube channel here - the video is a couple of years old now and we don't use this site any more, but it gives you a bit of an idea what an SG meet up is like :)

what members say:

"Without SG I would still be a loner with no friends and even less self confidence and much more self conscious. I kinda feel SG has made me realise who I really am being with other autistic people and its made it so much easier to bring that into the real world"

More Helpful Info:

We know that joining a big community like SG might be a bit overwhelming so we made this 'Getting Started Guide' that gives you some ideas and tips to help you settle in when you first join.
